New Modern Warfare 2 Maps Leaked

Ever since Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 came out in early November of 2009, it has undoubtedly been one of the most highly acclaimed games to ever hit the video game market. If you’re like me, you know the current base maps like the back of your hand, and you’re more than ready to see some new Modern Warfare 2 maps surface the market.

It was officially reported by Activision in late September of 2009 that there would be new Modern Warfare 2 maps to hit the market in Spring 2010 (which is right around the corner, now). The new Modern Warfare 2 maps that are planned to hit the market soon were previously released as part of a giveaway for Monster energy drinks (a promotional event). There has been no official information released regarding what types of new Modern Warfare 2 maps will be released, but we know that we are to expect two map packs. In addition, the new Modern Warfare 2 maps are expected to hit Xbox 360 first, and then PS3, PC, etc.

There have been lots of speculation surrounding the release of the new Modern Warfare 2 maps, and they have been rumored to be released on March 1st (which is tomorrow). A video on YouTube was recently uploaded that supposedly leaked some of the new Modern Warfare 2 maps, but the video’s contents have not been officially confirmed.

The video features a gamer showing off all of the new Modern Warfare 2 maps to be included in one or both map packs, and also a new game mode: Global Thermonuclear War (which is also a title that refers to nuking a match). Like I said, there is no real confirmation that these new Modern Warfare 2 maps do or will exist, and some YouTube videos have already been banned due to a copyright claim with Activision Games Inc.

The names of the new Modern Warfare 2 maps include: Abandon, Compact, Complex, Crash, DCWH (The White House), Overgrown, Revolt, Shipment, Storm, and Vacant. Some of these new Modern Warfare 2 maps are recognizable from the original Modern Warfare game, and that sort of gives gamers reason to consider that the video could possibly be a hoax. The maps that originate from the first Modern Warfare have been rumored to be contained in a separate map pack.

Whether the video is a hoax or not, we are to eventually expect new Modern Warfare 2 maps to go on sale beginning very soon. As for me, I’m holding out for some sort of ability to operate helicopters and/or snowmobiles! Honestly, I think it would be a great way to complete the Modern Warfare 2 experience, and add some more excitement to the game besides camping, running and gunning, and occasionally operating a predator missile or chopper gunner. Stay on the lookout for new Modern Warfare 2 maps, because we are supposed to be seeing them in the near future!

I know, the day after this was published, the maps didn't come out (which I already kind of suspected). I can't wait to play them either.

Wow mynameisnotpaul, good post, I can't wait for this map pack to come out. I use to own on shipment, I would get 140 kills and 10 deaths lol.

Thank you, PSN Codes! :) I definitely cannot wait for the map pack to come out either. I am not totally sure if these maps are a hoax to the new MW2, but we will find out soon... *crosses fingers*

I can't bring myself to buy this game until they bring in both multiple profiles and server support.

It would be nice if they brought some new maps out though :)

Yeah, a lot of people feel the same way you do. I think the matchmaking in MW2 reminds me a lot of Halo, except their ways of matchmaking bring about a lot of connection difficulties and major lag. Every other game freezes and "tries to find a new host." I kid you not. It is really lame, and they really need to do something about it.

I don't know how any of the game's problems survived beta testing. :P

I have played it a few times on my dads computer and 10 minutes trying to connect gives you about 10 minutes gameplay seems to be the norm, my brother has confirmed this. 9unless of course you are lucky enough for a connection to last for more than a single map)

The games don't last long enough in my opinion.

Also if you (heaven forbid) want to play with friends, it can take 20 minutes to an hour to get everyone in to a game that last for ten minutes.

But as the publishers keep telling us, this is much better than the old system where you had to do all that tedious choosing a server in 20 seconds from a list, and being able to play with your friends.

I miss having my regular servers where you knew who you were playing with, and there was a community feel.

To be honest the concensus of PC gamers is that we have been stabbed in the back from a franchise that came about on the PC. bring on Battlefield Bad Company 2 :D

Yeah, I'm not too big a fan of the whole matchmaking idea. It's not stable, and you get hooked up with a bunch of random garbage that you end up having to carry throughout the entire game.

Another thing that KILLS me is that they took away Xbox Live Party chat during some of the playlists (most importantly, Team Deathmatch). TOTALLY GAY.

About the community feel, that is basically what helps make a game what it is. And that's what I loved about PC gaming. You could log onto your favorite server at any given time, and some of your friends would already be there playing. I've been considering lately going back to PC. I'd have to upgrade my graphics card, but that's about it.
